Cereal crops are different types of grasses cultivated for their grains or seed. It is cultivated worldwide in huge quantities. In most part of the world, cereals are the main source of energy.
In the first world, its consumption is less, but ample. Cereals are rich in carbohydrate, but its nutritive value of protein is negligible. It is seen that eight cereal grains rice, wheat, maize, oats, barley, rye and millet provides about 56% of food energy and 50% of the protein consumed on earth. Thus, it cereal grains are the "staple food" in most part of the world.
Although, Chinese were taking noodles since 200 BC, pasta was not popular in that time. The legend Marco Polo from Italy, while staying 17 years in China, liked the noodles. After coming back home, in the year 1295, Polo first tried Pasta- in original approach. Since then, for centuries, pasta has become a part of family delicacy from regular daily foodstuff to holiday feasts.
