Doughnuts
A doughnut is probably a misnomer. The traditional recipe of doughnut does not incorporate any kind of nut in it. It is actually a deep fried piece of dough or other kind of batter which is sweet in taste. It is popularly called donut also.
Two most important varieties of doughnuts are the Ring doughnut and the stuffed doughnut- a packed down sphere filled with various jams or jellies, cream or simply icing. A small round portion of the dough is taken and a hole is made. It is then deep-fried to make a doughnut hole.
Doughnut has a doubtful origin. Some researchers say that it was made popular by the Dutch bakers in the North America. In the UK, doughnuts are still meant by a ball of deep fried batter.
After frying, the doughnut is instilled with jam or jelly and rolled in with granulated sugar.
Recipe of doughnut is varied among all over the world.
