A toaster pastry is a kind of pastry, which is heated in a toaster just before consuming. It is a fast food that is proposed to be taken in the breakfast time. Otherwise, it can be simply takes as a snack.
Toaster pastries usually include a fruit filling. But from the recent past, it is available in the market with egg, ham, bacon and sausage filling options.
Toaster pastries contain high amount of sugar that leads to a criticism of bearing empty calories. But this is not the fact. Now, the bakeries have come up with reduced amount of sugar and other added materials that will provide extra amount of energy.
The toaster pastries that contain added items have enough energy to survive till lunchtime, but that contains extra amount of fat which is detrimental to health.
One of the most popular toaster pastries is ‘Poptarts’ made by the renowned bakery Kellogg’s. Actually, toaster pastries were made popular by this brand. Later on, similar foodstuff was made by other bakeries like Pillsbury’s Toaster Strudel and toaster pastry from the Quaker foods. The Toaster Strudel is quite akin to the German Strudel.
